The MS (QMBA)—formerly MS (QMS)—at the Indian Statistical Institute is a rigorous 2-year postgraduate program integrating Quantitative Methods, Business Analytics, and Quality Management. Admitted regular students receive an Rs. 8,000 monthly stipend and an annual contingency grant.

The programme has only 16 seats in total, making it one of the most competitive postgraduate programmes in quality management in India.

The curriculum covers Statistical Process Control, Six Sigma, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Reliability, Industrial Experimentation, and a live project in the final semester.

• Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree of three or more years' duration in any discipline from a recognised university or institution.
• Mathematics must have been a subject at the undergraduate level (as per the programme's quantitative focus).
• Sponsored candidates must be employed by a government, semi-government, public sector, autonomous institution, or commercial/industrial organisation, and must be granted leave with full salary for the entire programme duration.

• Apply online at the ISI Admission Portal (admission.isical.ac.in) within the application window.
• Pay the application fee as applicable.
• Appear in the ISI Admission Test at designated test centers.
• Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview; academic record may also be considered.
• Final selection is based on combined performance in the written test and interview.
• Selected candidates receive an offer letter and must confirm admission by paying any applicable caution deposit.

The written admission test is generally conducted in the month of May and is divided into two sections followed by a personal interview.

• Paper I (Objective) QMA: Around 30 objective-type questions carrying 4 marks each, designed to test conceptual clarity and quick problem-solving ability.
• Section II (Subjective) QMB: Approximately 8 descriptive questions where candidates receive partial marks based on their mathematical approach and presentation.
• Personal Interview: Candidates qualifying the written examination are invited for a personal interview, where emphasis is placed on conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, and mathematical thinking rather than rote learning.
